Doc Hollywood
1991 (1998) - Warner Bros.

Film
Rating: B+
Oh, that Michael J. Fox is so cute. And he's in a movie where there
is a slow-motion, fully-nude shot of Julie Warner coming out of a
lake. Who'd of thunk it? Plus, Woody Harrelson and Bridget Fonda
steal this movie four or five times. A good time movie.
Disc Ratings (Video/Audio/Extras):
B-/C-/F
The image would have looked so much better in widescreen. On this
DVD it's very tight and grainy. Not too much to be said about the
sound. It's fine for what it is. Everyone, say it with me -- What?
No extras?
Overall Rating: C
Like Frantic, I'm shocked
that Warner went bargain basement with this title. The film looks
like it was shot to preserve a widescreen perspective, and on DVD it
looks short changed. |
Specs
and Features
104 mins, PG-13, full frame (1.33:1), single-sided, single-layered,
Snapper case, scene access (12 chapters), language: English (DD
2.0), subtitles: English, Close Captioned
Bottom line
It's better on DVD than it is on TV or VHS. The sound is typical,
but I would have loved to see this flick in glorious widescreen. As
it stands, it's way too compact -- and the video quality suffers for
it.
