Doogan's list of films that damn well ought to be on DVD by the end of next year!

Hi guys!

Well, it's been a while since I updated Doogan's Views. The last time I dropped by, I started a shit storm by commenting on media violence. Then a whole lot of shootings happened -- and I wasn't gonna show my face around here for a few months. Now, I figure I will keep my mouth shut on politics, and focus on something important (to me at least): DVD titles. Who owns 'em? Where are the titles we're looking for? Why aren't they out yet? The answer to those questions: I dunno. I do now that there is a whole bunch of films I want to get my hands on on DVD, or that I just think NEED to be on DVD. What you'll find here, is a list of movies that should be on DVD soon. Most have laserdisc versions already out (even if it's a Japanese import), so it isn't such a weird idea to want them on DVD. Please remember -- this is MY list. Everyone out there has their own list. I don't want to start a fight with anyone who thinks that, say, Hardcore, sucked. It may have, but it's still a dynamically visual film.

That isn't to say that I'm not interested in hearing your addendum's. Forward any and all titles you think NEED to be on DVD. Keep it short and sweet, and if you can, make your argument on why they should be added to this list. Each person who does, please limit it to around 10 titles or less -- that way I can actually read 'em all.

Before I share my list with everyone, I'd like to pose a question... and it's a serious one. Does anyone out there notice the surprising lack of Pauly Shore's films on DVD? There's nothing out there, not even Encino Man!?! That's just plain weird. Anyway, for anyone who cares, here is the Doogan's Views official list of DVDs that I think should be out by the end of next year.

Note: Below you will see included some titles that have already come out. They are added because I think they could be re-released as special editions. The material is out there, and I think people would enjoy having it. For all you studios out there that have this stuff, put these discs out! I also did not include titles that we at the Bits know are in production. So if you vote for something, and don't see it on the list next month, then it's because you're either off your rocker, or it's already in production. But as you'll probably see below, it'll take a REALLY wacky suggestion for me to think you're off your rocker.

Keep spinnin' those discs!

Back to Todd...

That's my list so far. There are more, but it would get boring. Remember, titles like Godfather, Drugstore Cowboy and Seven: Special Edition are reportedly in production now, so that's why they aren't on the list. If you know for certain and can back up that some of the above are also coming -- drop me a line and we'll keep updating this list. See you next time!
