Open DVD Billboard in San Francisco!

Remember a day or two ago, when I mentioned that a group of companies had purchased a big open DVD billboard in San Francisco, in an effort to combat the Divx test run? Well, here it is!

For those who live in the area, it's located on the right hand side of Interstate 80, heading east past where the 101 splits into I-80 heading to downtown San Francisco. I'm told that the sign is covered by a 'traffic cam', and is shown daily on multiple local TV traffic reports. I've tried to sharpen the sponsor logos on the bottom, which are (for the record): Fry's Electronics, Suncoast, Sam Goody, Tower Records and Hollywood Video. Hats off to all of them, for their support of DVD.

I'd like to send a very special thanks to Bits reader (and Bay-area DVD supporter) Herman Fung and his friend, for going to the trouble of videotaping the billboard from their car, capturing the image on a Snappy card, and e-mailing it to me for all of you to enjoy. Nicely done, Herman!
