The Wild One
1953 (1998) - Columbia/TriStar Home Video

review by Todd Doogan, special to The Digital Bits

Film Rating: B+
Angst movies don't get much better than this. Cold and gritty, Marlon Brando bursts through the screen and shakes you right down to your soul. That's doing a lot for a teen exploitation flick.

Disc Ratings (Video/Audio/Extras): B+/A/B-
There's probably not a whole lot of extras they could have given us, so a trailer is enough. The mono soundtrack is nicely presented here, and the vibrant black and white photography looks wonderful on this DVD.

Overall Rating: B+
A classic on DVD is always welcome, but a classic presented as wonderfully as this is a treat. Hey, and all of our French speaking friends can now share the magic too.

Specs and Features

79 mins, NR, full frame (1.33:1), single-sided, singled-layered, Amaray keep case packaging, theatrical trailer, film-themed menu screens, scene access (28 chapters), languages: English & French (DD 1.0 mono), subtitles: English & French, Close Captioned

Bottom line

Another great DVD from Columbia/Tristar, and this time with Brando. This film looks and sounds great, and I'm glad that some studios are going back into their library and giving care to some of these classics.
