Green Phlem

Doogan's Views - Main Page

Here in your face in the way to your end, touch it, feel it... Green Phlem! God, I love the Misfits. The original Misfits, the one led by Danzig. They f'in' rock.

Anyways, sorry I'm so late this week. This time we're late because of me and not some server glitch. I really have been trying to get my words in on time so that Bill can format and have it up by Tuesday for you. But this week, I'm chiming in via laptop in a big comfy bed... sick with the flu. Right after Thanksgiving actually. I was watching a friendly poker game at a friend's house last Friday and started getting a scratchy throat. Came home, rinsed with salt water and downed some flu pills. Bam! Saturday morning comes round and I'm dead in the water. I'm still knocked on my ass. But there's a good thing about this. No one but Kevin Smith dares go up against Superman this week so the releases were especially light. That's right, aside from the volumes of TV on DVD that are just so typical at this point, the only stuff in store this week have either Smith or Superman in the title. Kinda ironic considering Smith wrote the legendary first draft. But I'm getting ahead of myself. I should save my commentary for below. I'm starting to get light-headed anyway. Being sick sucks, man.

New Releases

These are the discs making their premiere on DVD this week...

The Ant Bully

The Ant Bully

Yeah, yeah, I lied. There are other things out this week. But, hell, if you didn't see this in the theater, did you really plan to wait for it's DVD release? Yeah, me either. Why do ants translate to CGI so well? There's got to be other stories to tell right?

Clerks II

Clerks II

Kev's long awaited sequel is funny, touching and smart. Not what you'd expect from the king of dick and fart jokes, but Smithy is always twisting and turning against expectation. With that in mind, I look forward to his horror film. Fans will be sure to pick this one up in droves, so I'm not going to sell it. Just know Smith endorsed it so it's good. But don't be surprised if a super special edition comes down the pipe... in ten years time.

An Evening with Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder

An Evening with Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder

Part two of the Kevin Smith attack on Superman. The first Evening with Kevin was fun, so I doubt this one is as good. My man loves to talk. See what Bill says here.

See No Evil

See No Evil

An homage to slasher flicks of old with a big bad hunting down horny teenage delinquents sent to clean up an abandoned hotel. Directed by my favorite porn director. Seriously.

A Star Is Born

A Star Is Born

I haven't seen this thing in years, but I remember watching it on HBO and enjoying it. Kris Kristofferson is the man in this. But he usually is.

Superman 2: The Richard Donner Cut
Superman Returns
Superman: The Theatrical Serials Collection

Look, up in the sky... it's a bird, it's a plane, no it's Warner's huge attack on our wallets. Bill's covered a couple of these here and here. Check 'em all out.

The Ol' Double Dip

Here's some titles that have made more than one trip to the woodshed on DVD so far...

The Christopher Reeve Superman Collection

The Christopher Reeve Superman Collection

Bill covered the 14-disc set here, so break it down for yourself: some of the same stuff, different order.

Robin Hood: Most Wanted Edition

Robin Hood: Most Wanted Edition

Disney's Jungle Book characters (most at least) serve as "Actors" in this Robin Hood tale.

TV on DVD

TV, TV, TV... always TV with you guys. Well, here you go. Enjoy!

7th Heaven: Seasons 1-3, Angel Rodriguez, Bleach: Volume One, Bones: Season One, Case Closed: Season 2 & 3 Starter Box, Case Closed: Season 2, Volume 1, The Cheetah Girls 2, Criminal Minds: The First Season, Dane Cook: Vicious Circle, Ellen: The Complete Season Five, The Ellen DeGeneres Show: DVD-licious!, Flavor of Love: The Complete Unrated Second Season, Jamie Kennedy's Blowin' Up: Complete First Season, Joan of Arcadia: The Second Season, St. Elsewhere: The Complete First Season, Thundercats: Season Two, Volume Two and Touched By An Angel: The Complete Third Season

Special Mention Box Set

This is where we can showcase a super expensive but worthwhile product. In this case, it's...

Superman: The Ultimate Collectors Edition

Superman: The Ultimate Collectors Edition

Once again, big review week for Bill: check out his comments here.

That's it for me. I'll be on-time next week (I hope). So hang tight, pass the cold and flu meds and cover your mouth when you cough.
