Star Trek: The Motion Picture
The Director's Edition Event

Paramount Pictures Studios - Hollywood, CA - 11/1/01

Trek logo

Last night, I was fortunate to be able to attend a special screening, at Paramount Pictures Studios, of the new Star Trek: The Motion Picture - The Director's Edition DVD. Several hundred guests including director Robert Wise, Star Trek stars Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner, Walter Koenig and Grace Lee Whitney, producer Jeffrey Katzenberg and numerous other studio execs, Trek production staffers and members of the media were in attendance. The lobby at the Paramount Theater on the lot was turned into a mini Trek museum, with a handful of props and costumes from the film on display. The centerpiece - literally - was the original studio miniature of the Starship Enterprise used in the feature films.

I was able to take a few digital shots of the event, including a number of pictures of the Enterprise model. In addition, Paramount had professional photos taken of all the honored guests and we've added them below. There's also a great shot of director Robert Wise and the staff of Robert Wise Productions, who were the inspiration and motivation behind the creation of the new cut of the film for DVD. Special thanks to them, Mr. Wise and everyone at Paramount for a fun evening. Enjoy the pix...
