You may know Robert from his previous writings on the subject of classic film for Widescreen Review and the Minneapolis Star/Tribune, as well as his own Movies on Laserdisc magazine and Classics on Video website. Robert's family has long been associated with the film industry. His grandfather worked for Universal Pictures, and later became a booking manager for Rothstein Theaters in Canada, while his mother was an editor at Paramount. Robert has a particular interest in movie advertising and, over the years, has amassed a large collection of press material from the Hollywood films of the 1940s on through the 1980s. His Golden Hollywood is designed to complement Barrie Maxwell's excellent Classic Coming Attractions column here at The Bits. Barrie reviews classic films on disc, and examines the availability and release of classic titles on DVD and Blu-ray, whereas Robert will focus more on the production history of the films themselves, with information and images culled from his extensive library of vintage material - cool stuff you won't see anywhere else. Between Barrie and Robert, we believe The Bits offers the best coverage of classic films on disc anywhere on the Net. We definitely think you'll find it worth checking out.
