Japanese DVD Magazine
Thanks to
Bits reader Norman Mak, who
was kind enough to send these scans of a Japanese video magazine he
found recently, which reportedly reveals information about the new
Fox/Pony Canyon DVD releases in Region 2. Interesting that the
graphics on the cover depict Men In Black
and Face Off (Columbia/TriStar
and Paramount titles respectively), neither of which have been
released to DVD here in the States. The inside page scan clearly
shows pix of The X-Files and
The Abyss among others. Anyone
out there that can translate any of this? Drop me a line... |

TRANSLATION
Thanks to Bits readers Norman
Mak, Derek Hoffman and several others, who worked to translate this
magazine into English for our readers. Here it goes:
Magazine Title: Monthly Video & DVD
Data (Aug 98 issue)
Cover comments by one translator:
Video-data1 is the cover, it has information about James Bond ("See
all 18 titles", "Tomorrow Never Dies"), Steven
Spielberg's "Peacemaker", DiCaprio's "Man in the Iron
Mask" and "Scream 2" (was he in that movie?), Rowan
Atkinson's "Bean", Jackie Chan, Men In Black, Face Off,
and X-Files. Unfortunately, it's not clear on this page (the cover)
whether these titles are slated for DVD or VHS. I guess they want us
to buy the magazine, open it up and read!

available on small feature bars below the texts of the synopses, but
even if the resolution were high enough to read, I might not know
what each symbol means. I was hoping to find out, for example, if
any of the titles were anamorphic. No such luck at this time.) |
