Here's
RCA's prototype player display in the HD-DVD booth.
And
here's a closer look at the player itself.
Back
on the Blu-ray side of things, Panasonic had a working BD-Java
interactive demonstration
featuring Fox's League of Extraordinary
Gentlemen in their booth.
Here's
a closer look at the screen While watching the movie, selecting the
menu button on the player's remote brings up the BD-Java powered
menu interface. The animation animation runs smoothly over the full
motion film image.
Panasonic
had a simulated BD home theater environment on display...
...along
with the world's largest HD plasma display (the largest by one inch
I'm told).
One
inch or not, it's damned impressive. Don't even ask what it'll cost
- it's not for sale yet
(and they won't tell you anyway).
Pioneer
had a massive floor presence at CES, as usual...
...and
they're quick to tout the glory of Blu-ray Disc over regular DVD.
It's hard to see
from this image, but the BD image clearly had superior resolution,
color fidelity
and contrast compared to regular DVD. |
