Coming Soon - Best Bets for the Next Three Weeks

Into the Wild (HD from Paramount on March 4th) - Under-appreciated but superb evocation of the Jon Krakauer book about Christopher Mc Candless as directed (and written) by Sean Penn and starring Emile Hirsch. HD features 2.35:1 transfer, Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 audio, featurettes, trailer.

No Country for Old Men (BD from Disney on March 11th) - Academy Award winner vies with There Will Be Blood as 2007's best film feature; from the Coen brothers with three excellent performances by Tommy Lee Jones, Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin, and memorable cinematography by Roger Deakins. BD features 2.35:1 transfer, PCM 5.1 audio, three featurettes, trailers.

Atonement (HD from Universal - its last HD release - on March 18th) - Fine period piece and another of 2007's best films, starring Kiera Knightley, James McAvoy, and Saorise Ronan. HD features 1.85:1 transfer, Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 audio, director commentary, two featurettes, deleted scenes.

Bonnie and Clyde (BD from Warner Bros. on March 25th) - One of the key movies of 1967, a pivotal year between old and new Hollywood, as directed by Arthur Penn and starring Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty. BD features 1.85:1 transfer, two documentaries, deleted scenes, wardrobe tests, trailer. (HD version three weeks later)

And the guilty pleasure,

Independence Day (BD from Fox on March 11th) - entertaining science fiction popcorn movie with impressive special effects. BD features 2.35:1 transfer, DTS-HD Lossless Master 5.1 audio, two audio commentaries, interactive game, trivia track, trailers.
